Autism Clinic is Closing
TAMU AUTISM SERVICES INTEREST SURVEY
While we wish her well, we were so sad to hear that Dr. Heath is leaving BVRC and our Autism Clinic partnership and that BVRC is discontinuing the Autism Program. We are currently in the early stages of trying to determine whether or not we will be able to provide autism services via TAMU and the Center on Disability and Development (CDD). Please complete this survey to indicate your interest in such services. https://goo.gl/zXniKk
Regrettably, we are not yet sure what we will be able to offer, if anything, though I (Dr. Jeni Ganz) am hopeful and seeking funding and potential staff. If we do offer services, I can tell you that the focus will be solely on implementation of ABA in natural settings and most likely on children ages 3-15. We are most likely to provide services in children's schools and during non-special education activities (e.g., general education classes, extracurricular activities, meals, P.E., music, art). We cannot supplant services written in your child’s IEP. If we can get something going, we may later add other community-based programs. We will also likely start small and grow from there. When we started the clinic, it took over a year to get things going, starting with 5-6 children. I am hopeful that we will be able to get something started by the upcoming Fall, if not sooner.
I wish I had more definitive information to share. Please be patient with us and know that we are working as quickly as we can to determine whether or not we can implement a high-quality, naturalistic, ABA program in-house, and to develop this project if we are able to do so.
If you have multiple children with ASD, please complete the survey once per child.
